cheers to moi

with my birthday just two days away, there’s never a better celebratory drink than champagne.  these beautifully painted watercolour bottles from caitlin mcgauley makes me all starry-eyed.  it represents just how one should feel with a glass of bubbly in his or her hand- romantic, classy, lovely, fun, and flirty.  now all i need is a variety of finger sandwiches, a fine cheese, some pastel balloons, and grand company!

cheers to moi!

2 things

2 things i love at this moment.  the first are these gold dipped notebooks from brown paper.  i am swooning over the pink and the white ones!  they make me want to go back to school!

the second are these beautifully made camera straps from bloom theory, though i have no camera to use them with.  i will one day though… one day.  i also adore how their collection names are “see you swoon” and “gold with envy” while each strap has an adorable name such as the “moonshine,” “petite cherie,” “creme brulee,” and “tea party.”

*le sigh*

emma

amongst near completion of my film bucket list, i’ve certainly been more impressed with films more so than emma.  i’m not sure why i didn’t love this film.  perhaps it was gwyneth paltrow’s performance, or the pacing, or just the way it was shot- but it certainly did not strike my fancy.  however, as always, i try to learn or find one enjoyable thing in each film and in emma i really enjoyed the floral theme throughout.

flowers were represented everywhere, whether it was a print on emma’s dress, or an accessory in someone’s hand, or a room where emma and mr. knightley meet.  i do love flowers and felt some of these shots were worthy of the blog.

dinner party

though this blog is 90% films and fashion, i still like to throw a little personalization in there once in a while to let you know that i’m not a robot.  my friends and i attended a dinner party last night and there’s something so civilized and romantic in getting all dolled up and sitting around a table adorned with flowers and wine glasses.

plus i just had to show off my rose bubbly dress!!!  good girlfriends are so great to come by (and handsome boyfriends!  he shaved beforehand and i begged him to keep the mustache because i told him it would make a nice conversation piece, but secretly i just think he’s adorably cute with it.)

i find that playing grown up can be immensely fun.  we should do it more often.

i know i’ve mentioned stevie nicks a few times on the blog, but right now i have such a girl crush on her.  she just screams badass.  i love her witchy ways and free spirit.  plus, she’s in a band- i mean, how cool is that!?  these pictures are so awesome and inspiring.

for some reason, this isn’t at all what i expected, which i’m not sure why because it completely showcases baz luhrmann’s vision and style of what the great gatsby would be in his world.  none-the-less, i am over the moon.  it’s a completely different take on gatsby and it looks completely magical in all luhrmann glory.  can not wait, can not wait, can not wait.

with summer vastly approaching, i’ve noticed a pattern in my music as of lately.  songs are a bit more light, more airy, they have chilled electronic beats or a 70′s folk pop vibe.  so i wanted to share my summer playlists with you.  dusk drives is a bit more indie with more synths and perfect for a night drive, bike rides is pretty sunshine-y and perfect for the outdoors.

i’ve officially declared my song of the summer fleetwood mac’s “rhiannon.”  i am completely obsessed with it, just the lyrics and the way it’s sung and the guitars and everything!  it floats my boat.  what’s on your summer playlist?
