i can count how many times i’ve watched french television on one hand, but today i happened to be in a room with a tv and saw this super cute commercial.

the marie antoinette lover in me couldn’t resist sharing with my fellow marie-lovers/francophiles… also check out this link to watch a super cute and inspiring “making-of” the commercial (which i might actually love more than the commercial.)

maybe i’ll start drinking badoit just because of this commercial. now that’s successful advertising and marketing!

They tell you in yoga to rest your mind and think of nothing.  Well, this has always proved to be quite difficult for me so instead I’ve always focused on one place and that seems to send my heart and soul into bliss and relaxation.

For me, that place is Versailles.  After my first visit to the Chateau four years ago, I can’t shake away the details, the atmosphere, the sounds- every inch of surface.  I knew it would be one of my first, and many many stops, upon moving to Paris.

While Autumn begins to set in, last weekend embraced full summer potential with sunny skies and hot tempatures.  I knew it’d be the perfect time before I visit again once the leaves change.

I went at my own pace, walking from the Chateau, to the gardens, to the Petit Trianon, Theater, Farm, Grand Trianon, and Canal.  If Versailles published a book of every wallpaper, tassel, and upholstered chair, it would certainly be a best seller in my opinion and proudly displayed on my coffee table.

I have to admit, it was a bit more fun going with friends or someone you love, just to exclaim, “I can’t believe people lived here!!!!!!”  and to have someone look as dumb as you, attempting to row a boat in the canal.

Anywho, on my list of things to accomplish this year is to visit Versailles in every season.  Hopefully I’ll discover new things each time and can be able to share them with you.

For now, out of 181 photos, these seemed to catch my eye and I wanted to share.  If you ever intend on visiting Versailles, you certainly need to make the entire day of it (from open to close) and be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Well, new adventures await!  I hope life is lovely your way!

whilst pinning, i came across this marie-antoinette inspired shoot for vanity fair italia with model anna ilnytska.  of course, i adore all things marie, but i really loved the details in this shoot, for instance the small jeweled hair pins and mixture of dyed ostrich furs with bold silks and satins.  i wish i could provide better quality of these images, but even these seemed to be quite a feat for me to find.  i’d say, “please enjoy” but i already know you will…

i came across the poster work of linda hordijk on pinterest and really adore her style.  she doesn’t have a lot of pieces but i love the textures and simplistic color and design aspects.  this marie antoinette poster is so different and fun!  i simply adore it!  she also did a few stanley kubrick posters which are really cool.  don’t you love lolita?

really can’t wait to see what she does in the future!

clean

how’s the new year treating you?  i’ve been doing a lot of number 1′s on my list. breathing. whenever i get anxious or anything really, i just take a deep breath.  i’m not waiting to make those phone calls or write those letters or clean the apartment, i’m just doing it, without thought.  it’s nice and productive.

don’t you wish we lived like marie? or sophia’s marie? spending our mornings in clean, white, breezy dresses surrounded by spring flowers, fresh croissants, and handsome men to feast our eyes upon? *sigh*

one day.

as the weekend draws near i wish you a lovely adventure. i also sence another screencap post in the near future… see you soon!
